Community Access
For almost three decades Helpline House Community Access and Person to Person programs have assisted adults with developmental disabilities in vocational and community access activities.
The function of the Community Access Program is to de-emphasize disabilities and differences and focus in on abilities and similarities through community participation. The Person to Person program prepares participants for the workforce.Caring and experienced staff encourage personal growth and expression, community integration and supported employment services to approximately 20 community members by facilitating recycling, bulk mailing, community gardening (including the Pea Patch at Helpline) and other volunteer activities as well as recreational pursuits such as attending local sporting and cultural events.
Major funding for these programs is provided through Kitsap County's Division of Developmental Disabilities.
